David Katona is a co-founding partner of the New York City-based law firm Katona & Mir LLP.  He also serves as an of counsel immigration expert to two other law firms in New York City.  Mr. Katona practices exclusively in the area of immigration law.  He has experience representing businesses of all sizes, from Fortune 500 companies to start-ups, and has worked extensively with individuals in the fields of IT, law, real estate, business, finance, education, health care, science, fashion, the performing arts, television/motion pictures, and sports.  He also has extensive experience defending clients in removal/deportation proceedings, handling administrative and federal appeals and assisting individuals and families in petitioning for relatives, applying for U.S. citizenship, seeking waivers, etc.


Mr. Katona is actively involved in local and national professional associations. He currently serves as the Treasurer of the New York Chapter of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) and as the NY Ambassador of the American Immigration Council (AIC). He previously served as the Co-Chair of the Corporate Practice Committee of AILA’s New York Chapter and a member of the Immigration Committee of the NYC Bar Association.


Mr. Katona also regularly conducts seminars and authors articles on various immigration related topics.  Two of his recent articles were published in 2009 by Aspatore Books, a Thompson Reuters publication.
